Supply Chain Management & Logistics plays a major role in almost every industry around the world. A supply chain involves multiple facets such as operations and procurement that keep a company running smoothly, while logistics focuses on the coordination and movement of goods. By completing this program, Trillium College graduates will have the key knowledge required to contribute to this non-stop industry.
In today’s competitive environment, managing the supply chain and effectively controlling supply chain costs is critical for business. This has created a demand for employees with current skills and understanding on how to effectively manage the supply chain using up-to-date tools, processes and technology.

Employment Opportunities

Main Duties

Review requisition orders for accuracy and verify that materials, equipment and stock are not available from current inventories.
Source and obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers and prepare purchase orders.
Calculate cost of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts
Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems.
Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists.
Monitor inventory levels as materials, equipment and stock are issued, transferred within an establishment or sold to the public using manual or computerized inventory systems.
Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies.
Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services.
Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
Review and process claims against suppliers.
Compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of materials, equipment and stock on hand, using manual or computerized inventory systems.
Prepare requisition orders to replenish materials, equipment and stock.
Maintain stock rotation and dispose of and account for outdated stock.
Enter data for production scheduling, stock replenishment/relocation and inventory adjustments.
Reconcile physical inventories with computer counts.
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of an establishment.
Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control purchasing department budget.

Salary

According to payscale.com Canada, you can earn an average annual salary of $58k.

Admission requirements

Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) diploma OR mature student status (18 years of age) with a minimum Wonderlic test score of 17

As a Trillium College graduate, you will be contacted in a few months’ time regarding your participation in the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Graduate Satisfaction Survey.

Out of Province Student Loans

Students from provinces outside of Ontario may also qualify for funding from the last province in which they resided for 12 consecutive months. For a list of provincial offices, please visit canlearn.ca website.

Employment Ontario

Second Careers is administered by the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (ASED) which helps laid-off workers re- train for a new career. If you were laid off any time after January 1, 2005 you are eligible to apply; including those who have taken an interim job to make ends meet. If you qualify, funding is available to support the cost of tuition, books, daycare, transportation and a basic living allowance.

Lifelong Learning Plan (RRSP)

The Lifelong Leaning Plan (LLP) allows you to withdraw money from your RRSPs to finance your education or that of your spouse or common-law partner. You can withdraw up to $10,000 per year, up to a total maximum of $20,000.

Registered Education Savings Plans

A student who is named under a family’s Registered Education Savings Plan may use these funds to cover the costs of education at an eligible post-secondary institution such as Trillium College.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)

If you are a WSIB recipient or a surviving spouse, WSIB has funding resources for labour market re-entry. Speak to your case manager about re-training, which will help prepare you to get back into the work force.

Aboriginal/First Nations

If you are a registered Status Indian or Inuit (residing on or off the reserve) and plan on going back to school, you may be eligible for funding for your post-secondary studies if you register with an eligible educational institution such as Trillium College.
